THIS IS THE SITE FOR THE MAKE A WISH 120 CC RACE RULES AND REGULATIONS FROM THE ISR SNOWMOBILE RACING YEARBOOK. THESE RULES WILL GOVERN ALL YOUTH RACING AT THIS EVENT. THESE RULES ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE RULES USED AT THE BETHEL DRAGS.
120/4 STROKE RACING
RACING CLASSES AND CC LIMITS
ELIGIBLE DRIVERS: GIRLS AND BOYS AGES 6-12
ELIGIBLE SLEDS: ARCTIC CAT Z 120, Z120 SNO PRO, BOMBARDIER MINI Z, AND POLARIS XCR 120. NO KITTY KATS.
120/4 CLASSES - STOCK, IMPROVED STOCK CLASS (MODIFIED) AND OPEN CLASS
GENERAL COMPETITION AND SAFETY RULES
- IN ANY EVENT THAT A DRIVER IS OFF HIS/HER SLED AFTER AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING TWO OR MORE SLEDS, THE RACE WILL BE RED FLAGGED.
- DRIVER ENTRY INTO AN EVENT IS OPEN TO ANY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL. THE SANCTIONING BODY HAS THE AUTHORITY TO EVALUATE ALL DRIVERS TO DETERMINE THEIR QUALIFICATIONS.
- A DRIVER MUST COMPETE FOR A FULL YEAR IN STOCK 120/4 CLASS AND BE 6 YEARS OF AGE BEFORE COMPETING IN ANY OTHER 120/4 CLASSES.
- BOTH THE OWNER AND DRIVER ARE RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE THAT THEIR SNOWMOBILE AND DRIVER SAFETY EQUIPMENT CONFORM TO ALL THE RULES FOR THE CLASS IN WHICH THEY ARE ENTERED.
- TWO LAPS ARE RECOMMENDED IN HEATS AND 5 LAPS IN THE FINAL HEATS.
- MANDATORY TEARDOWN AND INSPECTION OF FIRST PLACE SLEDS.
- IF IT ISN'T STATED IN THIS SECTION THAT IT CAN BE DONE, CONSIDER THAT IT CANNOT BE DONE.
- THE RACE DIRECTOR AND /OR THE TECH DIRECTOR HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DETERMINE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY.
ENTRY FEES, PRIZES AND AWARDS
- EARLY ENTRY (PRE-REGISTRATION) FEE: $15.00 PER CLASS FOR ALL CLASSES; RACE DAY ENTRY (REGISTRATION) FEE: $20.00 PER CLASS FOR EACH CLASS ENTERED.
- TROPHIES ARE AWARDED TO ALL PARTICIPANTS.
DRIVER SAFETY EQUIPMENT - ALL CLASSES
- FULL FACED HELMETS, UPPER BODY PROTECTION, SHIN GUARDS, AND ABOVE THE ANKLE BOOTS ARE REQUIRED IN ALL CLASSES.
120/4 RACING CLASS RULES
THESE DEFINITIONS ARE COMPRISED OF DEFINITIONS AND ALLOWABLE MODIFICATIONS OR ALTERATIONS. IF A DEFINITION, MODIFICATION, OR ALTERATION IS NOT CITED, THEN IT IS CONSTRUED THAT NO MODIFICATION, ALTERATION, OR CHANGE CAN BE MADE TO THE COMPONENT UNLESS IT IS SPECIFICALLY APPROVED AND PUBLISHED BY THE ISR RULES COMMITTEE.
GENERAL SLED REQUIREMENTS
- IN ALL CLASSES, THE REAR OF THE TUNNEL MUST BE ENCLOSED WITH MATERIAL COMPARABLE IN STRENGTH TO 0.063 ALUMINUM SHEET. THE TUNNEL ENCLOSURE IS REQUIRED TO REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF SKIS AND DRIVER'S EXTREMITIES ENTERING THE TUNNEL AREA. THE AREA BETWEEN THE REAR TUNNEL AREA AND THE SNOW FLAP MUST BE ENCLOSED. THE ENCLOSURE SHALL COVER THE REAR AND BOTH SIDES AND EXTEND FORWARD. THE BOTTOM OF THE ENCLOSURE SHALL BE NO HIGHER THAN 1 (ONE) INCH ABOVE THE CENTER OF THE REAR AXLE (WITH THE DRIVER IN PLACE). THE REAR OF THE ENCLOSURE SHALL BE NO FURTHER THAN 2.5 INCHES FROM THE REAR OF THE TRACK.
- IN STOCK AND IMPROVED STOCK, SNOWMOBILE PERFORMANCE WILL BE MONITORED AND IKCR RULES COMMITTEE MAY ADOPT RULES CHANGES TO INSURE FAIR COMPETITION AMONG VARIOUS MODELS.
- SKI HOOPS MUST BE PADDED.
STOCK CLASS RULES
- THE SNOWMOBILE MUST HAVE ORIGINAL OEM (OR FACTORY DESIGNATED REPLACEMENT) ENGINE, HOOD, TRACK, COWL GAS TANK, CARBURETION, AIRBOX, SUSPENSION, AND CLUTCH SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE PARTICULAR MODEL. FACTORY DESIGNATED REPLACEMENTS ALLOWED.
- ENGINE RPM AND VEHICLE SPEED MAY BE MONITORED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE RACE DIRECTOR.
ENGINE
- ALL GOVERNOR PARTS MUST BE INTACT, IN PLACE, FUNCTIONAL, AND ORIGINAL.
- NO COMPONENT OF THE ENGINE (INCLUDING HEAD, VALVES, CAM, AND VALVE SPRINGS) MAY BE ALTERED, CHANGED, OR ENLARGED FROM THE ENGINE MANUFACTURER'S ORIGINAL STOCK SPECIFICATIONS, NOR MAY ANY ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS BE ADDED TO THE ENGINE.
- BLUEPRINTING OF ENGINES IS NOT ALLOWED. NO REMOVAL OF MATERIAL WHATSOEVER WILL BE ALLOWED. THIS IS TO INCLUDE POLISHING, PORT MATCHING, DEBURRING, GLASS OR SAND BLASTING SURFACES, OR MATERIAL REMOVAL FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENGINE BALANCING OR OTHER REASONS.
- THERE WILL BE NO MORE THAN ONE CYLINDER BASE GASKET TO A CYLINDER. NO CHANGES IN ENGINE DIMENSIONS CAN BE MADE BY GASKET ADJUSTMENTS.
- SPARK PLUGS DO NOT NECESSARILY HAVE TO BE OEM STOCK.
- NO CARBURETOR/AIR SILENCER CHANGES ALLOWED.
- JETTING CHARGES ARE ALLOWED.
- REMOTE ADJUSTABLE MAIN JET SYSTEM ALLOWED.
- THE OEM EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR THE MODEL MUST BE USED IN ITS ENTIRETY. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM MUST BE FULLY CONTAINED WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE COWL OR THE CHASSIS AND DIRECT EXHAUST EMISSIONS FROM THE ENCLOSED AREA. MUFFLER COMPONENTS AND/OR SILENCING MATERIAL MUST BE INTACT AT ALL TIMES.
DRIVE
- BRAKE MUST BE FUNCTIONAL AND OPERATIONAL AT ALL TIMES.
- OEM DRIVE CLUTCH MUST BE USED WITH NO MODIFICATIONS.
- STOCK DRIVE CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT MUST BE MAINTAINED.
- NO BELT DRIVES ALLOWED.
- CHAIN GUARD MUST BE IN PLACE.
- OEM GEAR RATIO MUST BE MAINTAINED.
- SPROCKET RATIO CHANGES MAY BE REQUIRED BY CIRCUITS IN ORDER TO EQUALIZE PERFORMANCE BETWEEN THE VARIOUS MODELS.
SKI SUSPENSION & STEERING
- FRONT SUSPENSION MUST BE OEM STOCK.
- FRONT SUSPENSION MUST REMAIN IN ITS STOCK LOCATION.
- SKI WIDENING DEVICES AND/OR HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT DEVICES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN STOCK CLASSES UNLESS FURNISHED AS OEM AND PROPERLY FILED.
- SUSPENSION TRAVEL MAY BE LIMITED BY MEANS OF LIMIT STRAPS ONLY. MINIMAL SUSPENSION TRAVEL MUST BE MAINTAINED. NO RIGID SUSPENSIONS ALLOWED.
SKIS & SKI RUNNERS
- SKI MUST BE OEM FOR THE MODEL AND YEAR OR A COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE AFTERMARKET SKI WITH A MINIMUM OVERALL LENGTH OF 20 INCHES.
- SKI SUSPENSION COMPONENTS MUST BE OEM STOCK.
- SKI TIPS MUST HAVE SKI LOOPS. SKI LOOPS MUST BE PADDED.
TRACK SUSPENSION
- THE COMPLETE SUSPENSION MUST BE USED AS FURNISHED AND FILED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
- COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE MARGINAL SNOW WHEELS MAY BE ADDED TO THE SIDE RAILS. (REAR AXLE IDLER WHEELS MUST REMAIN OEM FOR THE MODEL.)
- SUSPENSION TRAVEL MAY BE LIMITED BY MEANS OF LIMIT STRAPS ONLY. MINIMAL SUSPENSION BY MEANS OF LIMIT STRAPS ONLY. MINIMAL SUSPENSION TRAVEL MUST BE MAINTAINED. NO RIGID SUSPENSIONS ALLOWED.
TRACK & TRACTION
- THE TRACK MUST BE OEM FOR THE MODEL.
- (OVAL) TRACK STUDS MUST NOT EXTEND MORE THAN 3/8 INCH ABOVE THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE TRACK.
FRAME & BODY
- OEM HOOD ONLY. OEM HOOD MAY BE PAINTED ANY COLOR.
- WINDSHIELD MAY BE TRIMMED. EXPOSED EDGES OF WINDSHIELD MUST HAVE SAFETY BEAD.
- FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS MUST BE PADDED.
- ALL SHARP EDGES MUST BE PADDED.
IGNITION & ELECTRICAL
- AN IGNITION TETHER SWITCH MUST BE INSTALLED AND FUNCTIONAL.
- HEADLIGHT AND TAIL LIGHT MUST BE OEM FOR THE MODEL AND TAIL LIGHT MUST BE FUNCTIONAL.
IMPROVED STOCK CLASS RULES
DRIVE
- GEAR RATIO MUST BE CHANGED.
- CLUTCH MAY BE REPLACED WITH AFTERMARKET CLUTCH OF THE SAME BASIC CENTRIFUGAL DESIGN. (NO VARIABLE RATIO SYSTEMS ALLOWED.) BRAKE BAND MAY BE CHANGED TO FIT CLUTCH.
- STOCK CLASS RULES APPLY IN ALL OTHER SECTIONS.
OPEN CLASS
- 120/4 STROKE PROGRAM ELIGIBLE SNOWMOBILES ONLY
COURSE REQUIREMENTS - VAL
- SANCTIONED OVAL RACES SHALL BE HELD ON A FLAT COURSE OF ICE OR HARD PACKED SNOW OR GRASS.
- THESE EVENTS CAN BE HELD ON TRACKS HAVING A MAXIMUM STRAIGHTAWAY LENGTH OF ONE HUNDRED FIFTY (150) FEET.
- COURSE WIDTH IN STRAIGHTAWAY SHOULD BE A MINIMUM OF FIFTEEN (15) FEET IN WIDTH.
- COURSE WIDTH ON TURNS SHOULD BE A MINIMUM OF TWENTY-FIVE (25) FEET.
ALL DECISIONS REGARDING THESE RULES FOR THIS EVENT BY THE RACE DIRECTOR ARE FINAL.
